Analyzed the properties of earthquake fault slip and characteristics of the contemporary tectonic stress field of Shandong and nearby regions based on 132 times focal mechanism solutions which obtained by P, SH and SV wave initial motion and amplitude from April 2001 to August 2012. Results show that the earthquake fault slip extend at large in NE and NW direction, the movements of earthquake faults are mainly of strike-slip with small number of oblique-slip. The sub-regions studies have shown that, the compression is relatively strong in Liao-kao fault area and the tensile is slightly dominant in Jiaodong peninsula and its northern sea area; the thrust fault earthquake rupture significantly more than the normal fault rupture in Liao-kao fault zone; In Jiaodong peninsula and its northern side of the sea area, the thrust fault rupture is far less than the normal fault rupture; the normal fault rupture as much as the thrust fault earthquake rupture in the southern section of Yishu fault zone and its neighbor areas.
