Beidou satellite system is the positioning and communication system, being researched and operated by China independently. Because of its short message communication function, make the appropriate hardware and software development, it can be used for transmission of strong ground motion network’s observational data, including seismic intensity. In this paper, through its performance testing of intensity quick report transmission and its practical application efficacy in Lushan M 7.0 earthquake, Beidou satellite system’s application mode and efficacy in strong ground motion network data transmission at present are introduced.
